The start of a new school season brings new rhythms to families. Earlier mornings, homework, sports and other extracurricular activities create new challenges to families, but also new opportunities to be more intentional about living as families on mission in their neighborhoods and schools.

Recently we sat down with the Rev. Dr. Emily McGowin to talk about the purpose of family, how families relate to the church, and some practices to help families grow as disciples on mission. Emily recently accepted a position at Wheaton Collegeas an Associate Lecturer in Theology, and has published a book called Quivering Famlies: The Quiverfull Movement and the Evangelical Theology of the Family. She and her husband Ronnie live in Wheaton with their three children.
